Christmastime is here . . .

So here we have our Christmas morning. Actually, the picture of us all in coats is on Christmas Eve caroling at the Tumacacori mission about 30 miles south of Tucson. They open the mission on Christmas Eve for free and they light luminarios along all the walkways and walls and cornices, etc. It is gorgeous. So Christmas morning we had to wake William up because he was still asleep at 8:00 am! He was not impressed with the idea until he noticed the candy in his stocking. Then he opened some presents and decided it was an okay event. Ben chose a cheapo dart set as his favorite gift. Alex and Jeremy like their BB guns, and Elaine's favorite is her iPod. Dave was the cinematographer. It was a grand Christmas.

EMERGENCY 321!!!

Today at about 3:47.22 pm I received a phone call from an unknown number that I almost didn't answer. But I did and it was quite alarming. Northwest Fire and Rescue called to let me know that Jeremy was fine, but he had been choking on the bus and was now in their care until I could come get him. So I loaded up two sleeping boys in the car and sped up the road a few miles. En route I got another call from the kids' principal who relieved the bus driver so she could take the rest of the kids home telling me to take my time. I got there a few minutes later to see Jeremy hooked up to an O2 sensor, etc. Luckily, the hard candy had dissolved enough that he was pretty relaxed and comfortable. The firemen gave me the spiel about being required to take him to the hospital unless I refused, etc. but his vitals looked fine, etc. So he called the hospital and told them that the patient's father was a pediatric ENT and finally I signed for my child and we went home to a barrage of phone calls from teachers, parents of bus riders, ward members who drove by and saw us . . . quite the drama.

So William likes to put on goggles and even wants to wear them to bed. Of course we refuse, but what can it hurt if he wears them to church?

So now that Alex's picture is up here, let me show you the rest of them. Elaine (11), Jeremy (8), Benjamin (4), and William (2). They're all so adorable.

So embarrassing.

So now that I've actually invited a few people to view this blog I am embarrassed at how pitiful it is. So I might as well include some embarrassing moments to go along. A few weeks ago my 6 yr old Alex's kindergarten class had a field trip to the grocery store just down the street. I tagged along with Liam in the stroller. (Ben was at preschool.) It was really cute to watch the kids. They were very impressed with the back stocking area of the store. They all got to see the inside of an empty semi-truck bed at the loading dock. They got to walk into the deep freeze (which was more exciting than Disneyland, apparently, by the whooping and hollering they made), watch meat get shrinkwrapped, see cookies baking, etc. But the biggest attraction was the box smasher. It is a big machine that compacts cardboard boxes. It has a big "17" on it, so you have to be 17 or older to operate it. Well, that got the kids competing. One kid said, "my brother is 18". Another said, "well, mine is 20." So Alex added, "well, my mom is . . ." and he said my age. Luckily I wasn't standing right by him.

Now what?

So I guess I need to think of something worthwhile to blog about. I'll be back later to figure it all out.
