Elaine's backstroke was really exciting for me because she swam poorly in prelims and barely made it into the top 6. So to see her actually ahead of everyone was surprising. She ended up 3rd in that one. She got first in butterfly, (also a surprise for me), and almost got first in breaststroke but was touched out by 0.02 seconds. She would have gotten first place high point if she had gotten first in breaststroke. Or she would have tied if she would have gotten 2nd in backstroke.
Anyway, all the kids did great. Jeremy is unfortunate because in this league, the swimmers age group for the entire season is determined by their age on June 1st. Since that is his birthday, he swims with kids who could possibly be 13. (If their birthday is after June 1st they could be 13 and still swimming in 11/12, where he just turned 11.) Also, I accidentally signed him up for backstroke instead of butterfly. He would have made it to the finals in butterfly. Oops.
The rest of my kids are lucky because they have later birthdays. Next year Elaine will be almost 15 but still swimming in 13/14. William will swim next year too. It is very time consuming but we love it. So . . .
The order of these vids is: Ben (freestyle), Elaine (butterfly), Alex (backstroke), Elaine (backstroke), Alex (breaststroke), Jer (breaststroke), Elaine (breaststroke), Alex (freestyle).
I don't know what I did when uploading Ben's, but the sides are cut off. You can see it better if you view it on youtube.
Somehow Elaine's breaststroke was deleted. When I posted it again, it cut off the sides. I think if you right click on it, you have the option of watching it on youtube. She has the light blue cap with the greet gator on it. Her suit is black with green.
